Congratulations to Susan Barker, our latest AIPS success story! Susan recently found a position as a Law Librarian with the Law Office of Windle Turley, P.C. located in Dallas, Texas.  Susan started her new position on March 29, 2004. When asked how she heard about her new position, Susan said: Direct contact to the firm. When asked how long she had been looking for a position Susan said: About 9 months. These are the job search strategies Susan recommends: Don't overlook former employers.  I am returning to a former employer, and the firm was pleased to have me back with my new legal knowledge gained at AIPS!   Susan would like to share these “words of wisdom” with others looking for employment: If you have an inside track at a law firm, you should use it.  Call all friends, relatives and acquaintances you know who work for law firms and ask if they are hiring.  Let them know you are looking for a job.  Ask for the name of their hiring manager so you will know who to send your resume and cover letter to at the firm.  I called up a former employer and asked if they were interested in rehiring me.  They were and I soon had a job offer and a nice raise.  After being away from the legal world for several years, I have a new perspective on the field and am happy to return to the firm.
