Congratulations to Lisa Dillon, our latest Success Story!

Lisa was hired as Paralegal/Closing Manager for ERA All Points Reality, REO Division, in Snellville, Georgia. She handles foreclosure closings; documents each offer on each property; advises of multi-offers on any property; initiates the offering to the selling asset company; follows counter offers to buyer from seller; drafts and finalizes sales contracts, addendum, extensions, amendments, etc.  She also follows the progress of property to sale closing of property.

Lisa, what was your employment situation prior to finding your new job?

I was unemployed.

Which skills from your prior positions helped you apply for and obtain your new position?

Organizational, Communication, Computer, plus legal background in residential closings.

How did you find out about your new position?

A friend of mine knew I had legal background and knew of the job through her mother.  They were looking for a closing secretary, paralegal or real estate agent with five years' experience.

How long had you been looking for a position before you found your current position?

Three months.

Are there any specific job search strategies you would like to recommend to others?

Networking with friends, former co-workers and following up on applications submitted or interviews held.

Lisa, could you describe how your AIPS schooling impacted your ability to find this new position?

They were impressed. (I) also believe that the knowledge will help in the area of the foreclosure business, and the owner is looking to expand in the future.  The future of how property is being bought and sold will now change due  to the mortgage crises; so, hopefully, I can ride that new wave.

Lisa, do you have any other words of wisdom for us?

Don't ever give up.  The job you want and are looking for is out there.  You haven't found it yet and it hasn't found you.  You may have to use a few stepping stones to get where you want, but you can get there.

Thank you, Lisa, for allowing us to share your story.  Good luck to you!!
