Congratulations to Tara Schaeffer, our latest Success Story!
Tara was hired as an Office Assistant for a firm in Cary, North Carolina. Tara's job duties include the following: I am cross training in all areas of support for the legal team...photocopying all pertinent case materials for legal assistants; running errands whenever needed outside of the office; envelope and package stamping and prep to send out according to deadlines; being aware of office needs and letting appropriate people know if we need supplies; closing office duties, such as spot clean kitchen, check conference rooms, fill all printers and copiers with paper and envelopes.
Tara, what was your employment situation prior to finding your new job? I was an unemployed student.
Which skills from your prior positions helped you apply for and obtain your new position? Organizational, Communication and Interviewing/Investigative skills.
How did you find out about your new position; and how long had you been looking for a position? I had been looking or 2 1/2 months and found the position in The News & Observer (Raleigh, NC) newspaper ad.
Are there any specific job search strategies you would like to recommend to others? List that you are enrolled with AIPS in both your cover letter and on your resume.
Tara, could you describe how your AIPS schooling impacted your ability to find this new position? I had mentioned, in my cover letter and resume, that I was enrolled at AIPS and looking for an entry-level position that would grow into another position. That is exactly what I was offered. It's funny how you get what you need/want and what fits you beset, when you are explicit to the company hiring about your needs. It's a perfect fit!
Tara, thank you for allowing us to share your story. Good luck to you!!
